Attachment

Ever since we were young we were taught attachment; we were attached to our parents, our favorite stuffed animals, our favorite foods, etc. We were never taught to let go of things/people and I believe the reason for that is because life is supposed to teach you those lessons. As you move throughout your life you will come across certain things or people that are attachments to lessons, meaning they are placed in your life in order to learn from experiencing these things/people. They draw you in with such high demand that your focus and interests are invested in them so much that you begin to become attached to them without even knowing it. The problem with this is that, attachments can easily turn into distractions without proper knowledge of why you are attached. With that being said, I want to encourage you to pay attention to your “attachments” and take time to figure out why you are so attached, why these things/people have your interest, when you do this you’ll be able to learn more about yourself and whether your attaching onto things/people for the benefit of becoming wiser or if they are really benefitting and pouring into you as a person. You’ll know if it is healthy for you if you can walk away from the attachment and still feel the same when you decide to come back to. You will never gain independence of the mind if you’re attached to things/people that don’t serve you well, you’ll never be able to fully think and act for yourself.
