It takes a lot of time and patience to learn how to be grateful. As people we are so used to being focused on the things we don’t have that we tend to lose sight of the things that we already possess. Which is not wrong, it’s apart of the learning process to work for the things you want but what is wrong is to solely focus on those things. When you are solely focused on the things you don’t have you’re only teaching yourself the negative ways of life, such as; being greedy, being envious of those who already have what you want, or being so lustful that you tend to fulfill your desires with anyone just to get what you want. In order to learn some of the positive ways of life you have to have a healthy balance and being grateful teaches you that. There’s a certain high everyone feels when they achieve something, it is important to avoid getting addicted to this feeling but to adapt to it by taking time to be grateful for what you have achieved before moving on to achieve something new. When you learn gratitude you learn to appreciate the things you have more than focusing on the things you don’t have. You’ll begin to understand that taking time to be grateful is beneficial because it’ll reveal the things that you possess that genuinely bring positivity into your life and the things that you have achieved along the way out of greed, lust or envy. If the positive outweighs the negative then you’re on the right path in life, but if the negative outweighs the positive then you should take time to re-evaluate the things you’re truly grateful for and channel that energy into your life.
