Embrace Your Difference

In order for us to heal and understand why we behave and react the way we do, we have to first understand that nothing about who we are is “Normal”. According to the dictionary normal means; conforming to a standard; usual, typical or expected. We have to stray away from the mindset of wanting to be “normal” or expect “normal” because it doesn’t exist. We are all different with different life experiences and different coping mechanisms to get us through those life experiences whether good or bad, but that’s what makes us unique. When we take the time to come together to share our stories and share our ways of thinking we are able to open a vulnerable side of ourselves that will allow us to truly think, reflect on our behaviors and understand that no one on this planet fits into a perfect standard. It will also allow us to recognize that some of our behaviors are unhealthy and that we mask them as “normal” just to cover up for past trauma that we haven’t dealt with. “Normal” in itself is unhealthy for us as people, you are not usual, typical or standard, you are an ever changing being that will never conform or fit into a perfect mold, embrace it.
